Lum the Activist...finally?

Just a short blog here (Blogger just redid their UI, and I am not yet a fan) to prove that I yet live.

Last week I finally got hooked up with the local Democratic Party faithful--specifically, the folks down at the Hillsborough Country Democratic Executive Committee. Why is it a committee? You got me.

Anyway, I attended a monthly meeting they have at a downtown Tampa restaurant, and I came away pretty impressed and excited. There were probably close to 150 people who showed up, and we got to hear a candidate by the name of Alex Penelas, who is running for Bob Graham's vacant U.S. Senate seat. He's ridiculously young, but I loved what he had to say, and he seems like a decent bet to offer up a good challenge to the hispanic candidate the Bushies are going to trot out for the seat.

Tomorrow I head down to the HCDEC office and see what I can actually do for these guys. More later on that.
